I have several custom systems that display dashboards in full-screen browsers. Now I know what you're thinking: well, turn off the power setting that dims the screen/turns on the splash screen. And yes, in most cases it will work. But on a couple of projects I have, it's just not practical. I also have a couple of old first generation Logitech MX mice that I've used on systems. Because it advertises itself as working with optical mice, I thought I was golden. The pad itself has a reasonable mouse shape and the spinning disc is quiet enough. Not quiet, but probably nothing that would bother most people. I thought my mice would understand the text on the bowl, but no matter how I adjusted the mouse on the base, it wouldn't pick up anything. I wondered if it was just the optics Logitech used, but found them to be almost the same on the Roccat mouse. This may work with simpler optical mice, but I don't think it fools higher resolution mice.
