REGARDING THE PAD: We purchased this pad for our 10'10" x 14'5" rug. We ordered the 11' x 14' pad size so we would have only one side to trim down. We have furniture that sits on our rug and pad. The pad is 1/2 inch thick as advertised, and it is nice and "soft" under our rug. Our rug no longer "moves" on our hardwood floor; it stays exactly where we laid it. We are very pleased with this product.REGARDING TRIMMING THE PAD: When we ordered the padding, we also ordered a pair of heavy-duty scissors for trimming. The scissors alone were not able to do a good job of trimming the padding. So we started the cut with a matt knife or box cutter, and finished the cut with the scissors. It worked well, and the cutting job was fairly easy. [Please see photos below.]
