Review on Aprilaire 501 Replacment Electronic Purifier by Unm Weil

I was a bit disappointed with this product. Although the box and item number are the same as what I previously bought at the local hardware store, the quality is noticeably inferior. The filter element is obviously thinner and breaks very easily during installation. The first two dividers were glued on both sides and a thin blade was required to separate them. I literally had to rip open the box to get the filter out because the extra glue stuck the filter to the inside of the box. While this product was about twenty bucks cheaper than the hardware store version, I doubt I can make a living from it, so I'm not sure if there's any real cost savings. Unless April Aire makes more than one version of this filter, I doubt this is actually a genuine April Aire product.
