It has a nice form factor; smooth look; easy to connect. I've spent hours trying to get this thing to work to no avail. Error messages kept popping up with instructions to unlock the mechanism that protects the scan element during shipping, unplug the USB connector, plug it back in, and try again. Again and again it just didn't work. Canon's online documentation was useless and attempts to contact Canon through the website resulted in an autoresponder and NEVER provided assistance in the form of a follow up request to Canon based on the instructions in the autoresponder. Technical issues aside, if you're looking for a (Canon) scanner mainly for web graphics and don't need absolutely flawless scans, you can halve the price if you buy a Canon 650u or spend a few dollars more for the scanner's metallic finish. Canon 656u.
