I've wanted one of these camera systems for years and when I saw the price of 4k cameras I thought it was time to buy it. I had asked a few assembly questions beforehand and knew there was work to be done on the attic and stairwell. Summary - I'm glad I bought it, definitely worth the money but it took a lot more power if you wanted it to look good in your home and the software install is in Greek. Pros: Excellent color and clarity. any software gizmos you can ask for. Telephone access. Customer support is responsive and gives you access to monitor your tickets online. No monitor required, hide the box if you wish. assumes you know what all the acronyms for cameras and networks mean. The NVR cannot work in the attic. didn't think.1. The system requires each camera to connect a line to an NVR (Video Recorder). For outdoor installation this means that each camera will invade your home and you will need a 1" hole to plug in the plug which will need to be painted and grouted. For outdoor cameras (my setup) all these cables need to be in the attic. or underground, but it is not recommended to place the NVR in these hot/humid locations, so the math says all of these cables should be running inside your home as well. $60). It's a hub, you plug in all the cameras, leave it in the attic and run ONE LINE into the house. Too bad someone didn't let me know as I sat with the system half installed and didn't want a literal set of wires through the wall to the box for six months. If you have already set up cameras without a PoE switch, it will not recognize them. So be prepared to solve the problem or call support to help you. 3. I may be missing something, but if you *play* more than 1 or 2 - 4k streams you get "no resources available" . The browser seems to support t 2, but for a system with 8 cameras it's not easy to play the history for everything in sync.4. They say you can't access cameras via a remote browser, but the internet says otherwise, if you're good at router settings you haven't gotten that far. If you are willing to tinker, you can do a lot with it. My star is deducted for poor user interface and printed/online documentation, which always leaves me with another question for Google. If you just need a remote for live viewing, it's much easier, so don't worry about the above. Annke was always responsive and appears to live in the Asian time zone so you usually get replies the same day.
