Not cheap but good and strong. By far the most comfortable shoe I have ever had to walk any distance. Looks a bit prosaic, but at least not cheap. I walk a lot on pretty muddy feet and bought this pair to replace my old Mephistos which I've owned (and used a lot) for almost a decade. In search of a change, I often went to good shoe stores and asked to try on their best shoes. The answer was always something like, "You wear them. Would you like to try a different color?".
