I ordered 2 packs of Ballcap Buddies. They're pretty big for a dishwasher. That means the two take up 2/3 of the space on the top shelf of my large dishwasher. I used them once. I made sure to prewash all dishes in the dishwasher to avoid food getting into the lids (my dishwasher is of reasonable quality and I don't usually need to prewash). I've washed one hat, this was my 'my hair is in a greasy mess and I need to hide it' type hat, and one that was a bit dirty from use and dusty from storage. After washing, the hats were clean, but they had what I identified as salts of sweat appearing on the outside of the hats. It was also on the inside lane. It looks like it got wet from the inside. I could scrape off the rest of the salt with my fingernail. Also, the caps didn't dry even though I used a dishwasher heated dryer, so I have a dryer with an extra shelf to dry things you don't want to "tumbler". I put the hats (still in the Ballcap Buddies) in the dryer for 20 minutes on low on this stationary rack and then dried the hats. when you wash your hats (it doesn't say why). Also read the instructions for opening the "cage". Overall I'm happy with the Ballcap Buddies I've bought but they are cumbersome to use as you really have to think ahead when loading the dishwasher to make room due to their size and I find the lack of a prewash can be a downside Problem when the food particles fall on the cap(s). Since they are big, I also need to figure out where I'm going to store them.
