Blu-ray is region independent, DVD not so good
Please note this was sold by Revain Services, Inc. so there is no seller to contact, but the DVD is not region free. I've tried several discs including region 2 and even 0 and it's region 1 locked. As I mostly watch Blu-Ray and have a separate old Philips DVD player which is region free, I didn't realize that this region was for a Banned for a while, but lesson learned - try everything within the 30-day return period. Even if they say it's possible to update the firmware in the comments to the questions on this page, it's probably not normal. I have no idea. Mine didn't come with an owner's manual either, which some people seem to have.
