When I took it out of the box and picked it up, a wad of fabric and thread fell out of the bathrobe, I was afraid it might be a weak product. I cut a few strands, shake them out and put them in the washing machine on the gentle cycle, hang dry and then do a quick dry cycle. Turned out well and absorbs water very well, better than some of the heavier terry cloth robes I've used. This is a mid-weight material that absorbs water surprisingly quickly. I recommend a gentle wash and line dry to prolong life.
