I used a much shorter 18" manufacturer Thunderbolt3 cable to connect a 27" iMac to a 4-drive Thunder3 QuadX external bay. With a 2m cable from CalDigit connected for the first time today, the BlackMagic Speed Test shows that the drives (spinning SATA drives) run at the same speed as with the shorter cable. I'm not a super engineer, but it gives me some confidence that the longer cable isn't in the way, and now I can move the case to a more convenient location, away from the iMac. Also, I tested both ends of the cable in both the iMac and Thunder3 QuadX ports and it snapped in nicely. Some reviews of other cables speak of "unreliable" connections with Thunderbolt3 cables. My only criticism of this cable (along with others on the market) is that I am paying so much for this length of cable. I will update the review if I have problems with it in the future.
