Review on Corkcicle Whiskey Wedge Fashioned Silicone by Aravind Joshi

Good idea, bad execution.

The packaging is very nice. I wasn't sure exactly how this thing would work, but then the magnetic lid popped open, revealing step-by-step instructions. That's when I realized I had to put the whole jar in the freezer. I was afraid of what would happen if the ice expanded, not to mention the temperature difference between ice and room temperature whiskey. But I thought they might have used Pyrex or some other temp resistant glass. I took it out of the freezer after about eight hours and it looked fine. Checked for damage, no problem! So I poured my favorite whiskey (Aberlour 12). It quickly melted the bottom of the wedge, which I found odd considering pumping a large volume of ice with limited surface area. But overall it was a cool drink made from not very watered down whiskey. When I got up to wash it, I found that a hairline had formed at some point. Maybe I couldn't see it due to frost from the freezer, or maybe it formed after a lukewarm drink quickly warmed it up. But in any case, the glass cracked after the first use. I'm pretty sure I followed the instructions verbatim, but even so, you'd think it would last more than one use. I can't recommend it in good conscience. to anyone. See attached picture as proof.
