The material looks thinner than it actually is in the picture. The material is thicker, like a normal old-fashioned hat, not the floppy hat worn in fashion. I wanted to buy this because my hair is growing out of a very short haircut and I need something other than permanent baseball caps for the next 6-9 months before my head starts looking really stupid. I was hoping it would be thinner and "chunkier". I followed other reviews' advice and soaked it in hot water, tried to stretch and pull the material without tearing the seams at the top, then let it air dry. It didn't seem to help much as if it was. I would not buy again. I don't think it's very fashionable as I've seen people wearing it. I've ordered another one from the UK (Beechfield) and hope it's better. Maybe I'll just wear it when I'm shoveling snow, that's what it looks like.
