Upgrading an old Acer TravelMate 6493 to Win10 Pro 64-bit and wanted to upgrade the memory to help it. Originally came with a 2GB (1GB x 2) kit, previously upgraded to 4GB (2GB x 2). This 8GB kit seemed like the most economical way to get the rest of the way, and since it had to be backwards compatible (PC3-12800 vs original PC3-8500) I took a chance. It turned out great! I used to upgrade to an SSD and now with the extra storage it feels like a brand new laptop. Mind you, it'll never be too good for gaming, but it's perfectly adequate for what I need. Note that an update to the latest BIOS is required for 8GB of memory to work on this computer.
