I have a very smelly cat and this helps keep everything away. I litter when I'm done catching surprises left by my cat and sprinkle fresh litter on top. That works great. The smell can be too strong, so when new putty is put on it, it will be tamped down. All cats are different and the smell of their urine and feces can be very strong and nothing works universally. This one works for me. I have tried several other brands and this one works for my cat.
