PJ Trailers has installed a new hitch on their F8 bumper trailers. This is a clever engineering project, however, but the number of options available to protect against the many thieves patrolling in search of easy theft is limited. This hitch lock works when parked and disconnected from the hitch. A through pin lock or cable lock is required for added security as there is a hole drilled in the heavy PJ casting. I use a master security cable lock when parked and a pass-through pin lock when the trailer is hitched. For those worried about device disconnects, your concerns are well founded. With the latest cordless saber saws in combination with diamond cutting discs, every lock is at risk. With this combination of locks you can slow down the thieves and the thief will have to make an effort to get away with your pendant. I had a master cable lock commonly used on trail cameras to attach the extension ladder to a 6×6 vertical wood pole. Much luck. I've worked in the Middle East where you can leave your car unlocked in a busy public parking lot, with your keys in the ignition, your wallet and your phone visible inside the car, and come back and you'll be fine. Cutting off a hand to steal is the ultimate deterrent.
