Review on Take Amazing Photos & Videos Hands-Free With CamKix Camera Shutter Remote Control And Bluetooth Wireless Technology! by Robert Robertson

Don't bother trying this on a Pixel XL phone, it maps to the volume button (i.e. camera zoom)

It is amazing that I can build one of these in a couple hours with an Arduino or similar $1 processor, yet few of these products sold here actually work (in my experience). With my Pixel XL the larger remote button (the "IOS" button, ha) controls the zoom function, the other button seems to do nothing. The device simply becomes a one-key virtual keyboard and by default, on the Pixel XL, and this maps to the physical volume button (which is normally the camera zoom function on the Pixel). This implies that a piece of software is needed to redirect the mapping. To do this redirect on the Pixel they want you to download "Camera 360" from Google Play, and this app wants most access every right on the phone, which of course it does not need (perhaps this might be ok if you were a child wanting to do everything with the app). I am pretty sure don't need to create selfie "stickers". ow about a simple app to remap the keyboard, instead of such a silly overweight, prying app?In my case (the Pixel) simply need the virtual keyboard mapped from the volume button to the shutter button. If you Android device has the camera shutter tied to the volume button, this make work fine for you. This item will go back. I have no idea how these vendors can make a penny trying to sell this stuff through reputable sales channels. With one long day of work (coding and a $5/hr English student) they could get these issues resolved and start making profit. But few ever want to put any effort into the work they they bought for a dime from the original supplier. $1000 investment would yield a return many thousands, instead of creating thousands of returns! The market will resolve the issue.

Pros
  • Ideal for capturing candid moments and natural expressions.
Cons
  • May not be as compatible with all photography styles or techniques
