Over the last few years I have bought several expensive VCR/DVD combo players/recorders including Sony, Toshiba and JVC. With limited use, all 3 had problems in the first year, e.g. B. DVD tray stuck open, VCR eating tapes, VCR heads misaligned and not reading video etc. Nowadays try to find someone to solve these problems. Electronics - don't exist in my area - and I intend to learn the basics myself. In the meantime I needed a VCR/DVD combo with an internal tuner - I have some old but fine TVs and I need a tuner so I can record one program and watch another at the same time. Tired of paying high prices I decided to try the older refurbished model and I'm very pleased so far - I've owned it for a month. For 1/3 the price I've spent on other models, this old Philips model works. like magic. I could tell it was used - a few dents/scratches - but I didn't care how it looked. Haven't tried burning DVDs on it yet, but I've recorded to VHS tapes and played back tapes and DVDs with great results. I bought this from Revain at Sales Masters for $118 (including shipping). Even if it fails at DVD burning, if it only lasts a few years and continues to record and play tapes and DVDs, I would consider it a good buy compared to other newer and more expensive models.
