Review on πŸ‘’ Seirus 4150 Cat Tracks Boot Sole Protectors- Enhanced Comfort & Traction, Black (Small) by Angela Patra

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Good light protection but difficult to put on

I use two different types of protective soles on my boots. Cat caterpillars Seirus and Yaktrax SkiTrax. Seirus caterpillars are much lighter, smaller, and easier to transport. A nice feature when you get to the slopes and shoot your tracks for the day. My main issue is that they are very difficult to put on, the tongues are smaller and they need a good stretch before they snap onto the shoe. I've tried following the advice of heating them in water and leaving them in a boot overnight, but that helps little. I've used them several times and it still hurts to put them on every time. If they didn't protect my boot so well I wouldn't be using them anymore. The Yaktrax SkiTrax is much heavier and bulkier, unnecessary in my opinion. The rails and pads are thicker and larger, but they don't really offer more protection unless you're into climbing. For protection from gravel, stones, roads, concrete and forest paths, I find the Seirus Cat Tracks more than good enough. The benefit of the Yaktrax SkiTrax is that they are much easier to put on, I don't have to struggle to stretch them. Instead, the Yaktrax SkiTrax only has a slight pull and sort of "click". The Yaktrax SkiTrax also came with a nice carry bag. In general, both models are good treads for the soles of boots, just choose the one you need. Lighter and more compact - use Seirus Cat Tracks. Putting the Yaktrax SkiTrax on is easier.
