I'm an iOS developer, I own a Mac for a little over six months, before that I worked for a company's Mac mini. It’s very pleasant to work with him, light, thin, chic keyboard, the touchpad is great (of course, I don’t use a mouse like all Macs), the retina screen is wow (rich, bright, but glossy, that is, strong glare when the sun hits the screen). The system / software ate is very well thought out - everything is through the poppy, I pressed the button and that's it, after it rebooted and it's ready. Of course, the Linux console, as a developer I spend the most time in it (vim, git, etc.). They say the operating time is 8 hours, well, I don’t know, I always have a lot of things open, in general, it definitely works for 5-6 hours under an average load. Well, the downsides, of course. Expensive accessories. It freezes very often, and all the familiar makavod developers have such a problem, however, mostly freezes are observed when working with the JetBrains IDE (I personally observe such jambs when working in appcode / rubymaine, xs jvm messes up). Safari, yes, there are cool gestures in it, but damn, this safari constantly hangs a poppy, especially when there is a lot of js on the page, in short, I am sometimes shocked, I have never seen this on Windows. Sometimes you want to throw out the poppy, when it freezes several times a day for no apparent reason, in general, there is a double feeling. Yes, and it's all on the SSD :) Well, also a finder, it's facepalm, of course, I haven't seen a single person who would say that it's more convenient than the Windows explorer) In total, the machine is excellent, before the fall of the it was 100% worth its money, now I don’t know, I would have thought 5 times before buying. If you are a developer, in general, you simply have no choice, if not, then a machine on Windows is no worse.
