1. I don't know how long the surge protection in my area lasts, and it doesn't matter. I bought it to handle all the power tool chargers and bike light chargers in my garage.2. It was very easy to mount it on the wall - it even comes with a simple template for positioning the mounting hole.3. Outlets are conveniently located. I have three "regular" charging plugs and three where the charging adapter is part of the plug (so these are larger plugs/boxes). I can connect them all with no problem. I have a couple of very large plugs/adapters for electronics that probably won't fit (plus they would be too heavy to wall mount) - I think it's best to use a short extension cord for this. The location of the switch and USB ports is very convenient, away from other outlets. It has a flat cable that points down (rather than up like my previous device).6. I don't know yet how durable this will be, but my cables will stay connected most of the time, so it will (hopefully) last "forever". If at any point this fails I will edit this review.
