Good Radio But Flaws

Radio works well but the Cobra antenna that came with the radio is out of tune and tuned about 27.6MHz over channel 40 according to the antenna analyzer. I also tested the field strength of this short Cobra antenna Connected to this radio, the field strength on channel 40 is three times the field strength on channel 1. I tried my home made 3 inch CB antenna tuned to channel 19 , and my homemade 3" CB antenna radiates better than the supplied Cobra antenna with this radio. I believe the load coil in this Cobra antenna has insufficient turns which can result in the antenna being tuned over channel 40 and you could run this radio with an untuned Cobra antenna on the antenna impedance mismatch at the red SWR- Burn level above 3. So it's better to find another CB antenna that is actually tuned to CB frequencies at least 1 foot long and will work with this Cobra CB handset.
