For washing and drying food and pasta. What I like best is the triangular shape and the comfortable grip. Pouring and scooping is much easier with this colander than with a round colander with two-pronged handles. The handle is a dream: I can just put my hand under the handle and pour the contents into the pot with one hand. No more trying to empty the big round strainer with both hands and the contents no longer fall out of the pot! The small colander is very handy for washing/draining small amounts of fruit/vegetables and also for draining tiny lids of mini food containers. I highly recommend this little compact strainer with a thoughtful design.
