This is a top system. The lightweight rechargeable receiver is ideal for small dogs. The battery powered transmitter simplifies installation, no need to hunt for a place to plug it in. We had a wired pet fence a few years ago and I'm happy to report that the technology has come a long way since then. was easy enough once we decided exactly where to place it. This was a little tricky as we didn't want to run the wire all over the outside of the house, we wanted the dog to go through the back door into the protected area. We managed to stretch the wire enough for it to work well. It was really cool to be able to put the battery operated transmitter on the fence in the corner of the yard instead of figuring out where we could put it and still be able to get an outlet. Not only was it great to be able to place it where we wanted it, it was nice not to have to worry about the high voltage power going out in the rain. Power outages aren't a big problem in our area, but it's nice that it continues to work even during them. The receiver collar is very small, we have 5 lb and 11 lb Yorkies, so it's nice that the collar is small enough to wear without feeling too big or bulky. The fact that it's rechargeable makes charging easier. We plan to only plug it in every few months so it's always fully charged. We love the fact that the collar has multiple settings to ensure dogs can be notified without being overly shocked during training. The YardMax feature is really cool. The great thing is that if the dog goes outside, he can return to the garden. In years past we had a system where the dog would run away and when we got home he would sit behind a wire waiting for us to remove the collar so he could come back. In general, this model is a little more expensive than others, but the elegance of the receiver and transmitters is a big plus. Very happy with the product.
