Review on ๐Ÿ”Œ Mikrotik RB941-2nD-TC hAP Lite: Compact Powerful Router with 2.4Ghz Wireless Connectivity and 4 Ethernet Ports by Stephen Schmidt

Great access point and great little standalone device

For a router under $30 this is a pretty solid purchase. Setup can be confusing, but quick settings are provided. If you're really a beginner and just need something quick, give them a try. I also recommend that you change the admin username and password to something else, Winbox makes it pretty easy. Also remember to download both the new firmware and RouterOS updates when you get them. Firmware updates are available under System > Router Board and System > OS Update Packages. IPV6 is disabled by default, but you can enable the package there if you want. You can set up quick settings in Winbox by downloading them from their website or from the web interface, for which basic settings are present from the default gateway address. There's a really nice firewall setting and everything else in the quick settings to get you started, and there are tons of settings you can tweak. I bought one to test as an access point with CAPSman, a wireless centralized access point manager. In general it's great. It's a small 2.4G model, but they also have dual band and it's not much bigger. It will work well as a router or alongside other products and I think you will be happy either way. The price is amazing for this small box, and a level 4 license is enough. I'll take a few more and sell them for better routers than you have at home.

Pros
  • Useful for more than it's intended purpose
Cons
  • For the old
