This is an amazing product for the price. It comes with a RouterOS 4.0 level license. Yes, it has a steeper learning curve than other home routers on the market. But it tries to compensate with a web interface and a setup wizard. My setup is quite unusual, so regular routers either don't work or I have to flash alternate firmware to get the best out of them. This little router gives me the flexibility and reliability of RouterOS. I use my home office connection via a radio that transmits the…

How is it only $22?

This is not suitable for PhD, "Push Here Dummy". But if you're good at networking, know what a MAC is, and maybe have played with router software before, then this is a very useful thing. Having already had some experience with DD-WRT, it was easy for me to get used to setting up this hotspot and using the MikroTik configuration/software for the first time. Contributions from the online user base/forums helped solve the needs of small businesses with this product quickly. The price is…

Great access point and great little standalone device

For a router under $30 this is a pretty solid purchase. Setup can be confusing, but quick settings are provided. If you're really a beginner and just need something quick, give them a try. I also recommend that you change the admin username and password to something else, Winbox makes it pretty easy. Also remember to download both the new firmware and RouterOS updates when you get them. Firmware updates are available under System > Router Board and System > OS Update Packages. IPV6 is…

Swapped a $35 Pi for a $25 Mikrotik to do the same job.

I have to say I'm a big Mikrotik fan. I've used dozens of them at work and at home. I currently rely on my cell phone hotspot to provide internet access to my home network of Cisco and Mikrotik devices. I used a Raspberry Pi as an 802.11 station and then used NAT and routed traffic to the Pi for the rest of my network. It was a bit inconvenient and required maintenance and upkeep like when I switch hotspot between phones or even another mifi network device. So I ordered this to replace this Pi.

Pros
  • New to my collection
Cons
  • Hard to say

I bought this little router to act as a WiFi bridge to replace a D-Link router with DD-WRT flash that failed after a few years. Extremely customizable - this little router can do everything from providing basic Wi-Fi hotspot functionality for your home to advanced routing, VPN and more. - Techie. I only ran into one problem when trying to set it up as a WiFi bridge to connect multiple wired devices to my wireless network - I had to set the WiFi interface to station pseudo bridge clone mode in…

This is the best router I've ever owned and I've had many more.

I would give more than five stars if I could. This is the most powerful router I've ever owned and I've had much more expensive routers from D-Link, Linksys, Netgear, and TP-Link. It was up and running in five minutes and I was immediately blown away by the speed of the internet. No more lags, even without tweaking fancy options. It just works and the router OS is great and offers a lot more traffic information than well known local brands. It just works if you just plug it in, but customizing…
