Set up for my son was so easy. Once you inflate the outer ring before pouring water in the middle, you can easily push through the foam pieces. Once inside, you can fill the inside with water. Whether you're pouring cold or lukewarm water, because water takes ages to cool, my son loves chasing the shards. At first I wasn't sure if he would be interested in playing with it because the foam pieces are just sea creatures, but to my surprise everything comes to life when you add water. He starts pushing one side of the mat and that moves the pieces everywhere. It doesn't matter if he just starts clapping on it or pushing the mat himself, all the pieces of foam move. Instead of leaving him in front of the tablet, we introduce it to him and it will entertain him for a while. The more he presses it and the more the characters move, the more he laughs and wants to chase the characters. The colors are bright and really grab his attention.
