Good product, good but slow customer service

I wrote a review on the complete kit that included the gateway. You need a gateway for this sensor to work. This review is for an additional sensor that I purchased. In general this is a good system. It is easy to set up and easily accessible over the internet. I've been using the system for over a month. I set up a report every 5 minutes. The data is easy to load into Excel where, playing with the data, I have seen that the vast majority of updates are at 5 minute intervals, with several 10 minute intervals and a few at 25 minutes and one at 30 minutes. I am sure that even after 30 minutes if the heating fails I will receive an alert and act on it long before the temperature in the house drops so much that the pipes freeze and burst. For reference, I'm in New Hampshire where it was -12F a few days ago. On the waterside, every minute counts when dealing with a major burst pipe, but even 30 minutes is far better than being away for a full day (or a full week on a trip). The chances are very good, the alert will be given within 5 minutes. Also, if it was a water heater that started leaking, or a rising water table and a broken drain pump, even 30 minutes would be fine. business questions. If it's growing pains, they'll get through it. I say this for the following reasons: many Alert products are out of stock, their server is slow to update sensor data, their customer service is very slow, and their messages are so short they make no sense. One of the 4 sensors had an invalid activation code, after resolution (1 week) it did not report a temperature. I filled out an online customer service request with the gateway number and serial number, my address, etc. and received 3 emails. All an incomplete sentence; "Check battery, what is the model number?", "What is your address" and on the 3rd, "Replacement has been sent, leaving defective sensor". I didn't even have to send the defective unit back. All in all it was a 3 week process. As such, it is a well made product with an easy to use interface and behind the product is the customer support team. I recommend this system. It will most likely be up and running within half an hour of opening the box, but take your time and patience if you need customer service.
