First of all, do they work? Yes, they work! I mounted them on 42mm tires and the 53mm fenders fit my Specialized AWOL perfectly. All water and splashes are kept off the bike and me. I had just returned from a 90 mile tour of the wet Pacific Northwest Trail and my wife (without wings) was covered in mud. I was completely clean. We'll talk about that later. Installation, as others have reported, takes a lot of time and effort. If you're the kind of person who gets frustrated and gives up when you build something from Ikea, just avoid these fenders, or best of all, just buy them at your local bike shop and have them fit them. However, if you are patient enough and have some basic skills (and a hacksaw!) I would definitely recommend putting in the 2-4 hours it will take you to install it. to the right and closer/further away from the hoop. It just takes some time and requires some experimentation. Then, when you have everything perfect, you should use a hacksaw to trim the excess metal off the posts. I don't really see a way around this, but that doesn't make it any less annoying. Take your time. My wife asked for wings for Christmas. Before this recent trip, she had considered them unnecessary, perhaps a luxury or a weakness? Now she is enlightened and rightly considers them necessary in wet weather.
