When shopping online, the question always arises as to what to expect. I chose this box because of the price and the unfinished look knowing I was going to paint it. When it arrived I was a bit shocked that it hadn't even been sanded down and had shards. And it was a pretty thin tree. I checked how it works and found a few not so good points. When I opened the boxes, everything worked perfectly. But when they closed them, they kept hitting the handle. So I planned to make adjustments by adding a piece of wood, so that the handle comes out of the box more. I used a colored pencil that could easily be cut with a razor and polished to size. This adjustment resulted in the handle (which was just a thin dowel) being too short. So I created a new handle from a larger piece of oval wood that is much nicer to hold. (It should be noted that the box was taped in places, making removing these handles very difficult.) I really wanted to paint the box, and I noticed that the way the drawers open and close, probably over rub paint. So I put washers between the wood and the boxes to make room so it wouldn't scratch. Then I thought maybe it would be better to paint the box because the stain and the abraded varnish are much thinner than two coats of paint. This was my first time using a water based stain and I was very excited about the range of colors available at my Lowe's store. The color palette was supposed to make me look painted. I chose poppies in part because my mom taught me to sew and it was her favorite flower. It looks a bit neon doesn't it? My mom was a neon girl, I finally have a wooden floor in my house and I thought it would be better to have 4 little feet on the box so that when I put it on the floor I don't have to use so much padding. . I bought a pack of wooden candle holders from Hobby Lobby and cut off the hollow part of the candle. The bottom of the box was too thin and uneven so I added a piece of wood to attach the legs to. I added a piece of quilted batting wrapped in Mickey Mouse fabric to cover the screw heads from the legs and protect the fairing from the scissors I'll be holding underneath. In general, the box is so great now! I love it! I used my Revain points and received a free box. And I put 30 bucks into finishing it. Come on, make yours now! I love it!
