I don't know what some of these reviews are talking about. I was looking for something that would rise above the shower head to shut off the water. Trust me I can read all the reviews on things anal. This one does. Trust me, I've worked in the water department for 36 years, so I know all about fittings and pipes. This overlap COMPLETELY shuts off the water! I have a regular shower head that I bought from Home Depot with a hose and a swivel ball fitting. I used teflon tape on the shower boom from the wall, installed this valve, teflon the male end and installed the swivel ball fitting. No problem. With the water on, the pressure is the same as without it. The shut-off button moved easily, the water was completely shut off. No drops. No leaks. I really think my teenage daughter can install this in 15-30 minutes with no problem! This check valve is very well made. Feels heavy like it's well made. I think the only plastic was the handle and the ball may have tumbled into it. When open, this is a whole hole to look straight through. Get this if you want no drips, no bugs, the same pressure as before, and a total water shutoff.
