At this price point you can't expect a powerful (green) laser that is visible in daylight. Or a sturdy construction to withstand bumps and bruises on the job site. This laser is useful and probably suitable for Tim Taylor style DIY work. Of course you may need to draw shadows to avoid too much sunlight - not such a bad compromise in my opinion. As for outdoor use - once the sun goes down you can use it from about 20, maybe 30 feet (maybe more) away and for my application it was sufficient. COMPLAINTS :-) The brightness could be better, especially at this $90 price point (compared to $49 models)-) The tripod isn't high enough - I don't mind, it's very weak. since it doesn't carry much load-) The laser has a 5/8" thread - it would be very helpful if the laser also included an adapter to attach, for example, the 1/4" thread of photographer's tripods UNKNOWN: How accurate are the orthogonality lasers and horizontal axis accuracy - actual results vs. advertised.
