Nobody expects a motherboard mounted component to be secured with rubber bands, but they do. The aluminum radiator itself is placed on the m.2, provided with heat-conducting tape and processed to a high standard. They come with metal clips that can be used in place of rubber straps, but they require excessive force to snap into place and there's always a chance of an m.2 shorting along the edge. Rubber bands are made of heat-resistant material. Silicone according to the manufacturer so I used them instead of metal clips. I don't see any alternative ways to attach a secondary heatsink to an m.2 drive, so I would recommend this product.
