No problems with 3-layer BDXL discs, unlike LG devices; but newer firmwares do not allow cross-flash/downgrade.

Pros: Fast device capable of reading 3-layer BDXL discs found in 4K UHD movies*** (see minuses) The black bezel perfectly matches the external USB enclosure from Vantec. Cons: Asus is in the shadows and locks down the firmware so you can't downgrade. You need to flash your device to a previous version using another tool if you want to use it to read UHD discs if your device was loaded with firmware v3.03. I'm giving this one star because devices released earlier this year had no issues with it.
