Review on πŸ“ Oshlun Stainless Steel Metric/Imperial Fractional Caliper MTDCF06 by Curtis Kincade

Revainrating 5 out of 5

The ideal calipers for woodworkers!

I have two sets of calipers: this and an iGaging digital electronic caliper that reads fractions, decimals and metric units. When I really need to enter a measurement accurately, I use iGaging. But 98% I prefer Oshlun! This is the one I carry in my pocket, in my tool bag, or even when I go to the store and need to measure a board or screw. It's much easier to intuitively understand the size of an object when I can see a visual representation of where that measurement is on a broken "dial". So many times when I used the other - digital - it gave me the answer, say 21/64, and then I had to stop and spend two minutes doing the math in my head and figuring out what that exact number meant. in practice. As a carpenter, I technically work within 32, but I THINK "strong" or "weak" in relation to 16 and 16. Oshlun gives me this knowledge at a glance, without mental arithmetic and without hesitation. A machinist might need a tool that can give them an accuracy of thousands of inches, but for the work I do, the Oshlun caliper is the perfect measuring tool when I need something more accurate than my tape measure alone. Highly recommended.
