I am very happy with the chrome finish of the steering wheel I bought. The graphics are lasered onto aluminum but don't really stand out. The handlebars are quite thick and offer excellent stability on my commuter train. My '88 Dave Scott Centurion has derailleurs on the down tube. I simply cut 30mm off each side of the handlebars, leaving room for the grips and brake levers. The handlebar extends to 25.4mm as it makes the first bend from the grip area to the center. Because of this camber and "rise" radius, I couldn't easily install the bar through the Nitto spring shaft. With a quick hit of a rubber mallet, the bar turned a corner, but not without a few superficial scratches. I'm pretty sure the bar was designed for newer stems that have a detachable front end.
