The first time I used it I found I had to keep pumping the ball to get the suction strong enough to dislodge the gravel. It broke the second time I used it. It couldn't handle the suction and I couldn't refill it. If it's only been used to pull water it's fine, but if you're hoping it will scoop up debris from the gravel maybe try something else. I will return it and try again to see if I just got a bad one. Update - The replacement didn't break and appears to be more durable than the first. I still have trouble with the gravel cleaner when I attach the larger/longer end. The water flow slows down and I have to pump to keep the water from spilling out. I'm keeping the shorter nozzle to try and clean up the gravel a bit. It's also large, which can be a bit difficult to clean around plants and in corners. Overall it's great for water changes, the manual primer pump is very useful. It didn't work as a gravel cleaner either, so I took a smaller siphon to clean it.
