I was willing to assemble this bread box myself. I have to admit that it was really difficult to hold the parts with one hand and screw them together with the other. The end result exceeds my expectations for a spacious bread bin. I have chosen not to use it on my countertops as I am in an apartment with limited countertop space. The use in the pantry is just as functional for me. The door opens and closes very easily and gently. It's even sturdy enough to put a few items on it. I regret that so many did not have this box for various reasons. Please do not let this deter you from trying this item. If you do, I pray it works for you as it has for me. This bread box is a true treasurer.
