Review on πŸ”΅ Emerson CF905BS Prima Snugger: A Sleek Low Profile Ceiling Fan with Wall Control and Light Kit Adaptability in Brushed Steel Finish by Aretha May

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Yes I would buy it again

This is a great looking fan that comes ready to use. These are some of the advantages of this device. Let me fill in the blanks. After opening the box and taking out all the parts in this block, there were no instructions on how to install a fan. This unit included a 4 position wall switch and blade balance kit, each with installation instructions but no instructions on how to install the fan itself. I also purchased a custom wireless remote from this manufacturer for an additional $50 that comes with their 4 speed -Fans should work. I did this because one of the reviews I read mentioned problems with HomeDepot's off-the-shelf 3-speed wireless fan controller that burned the fan capacitor multiple times. It took me several hours to complete this installation, not because the parts were difficult to assemble, but because of the lack of instructions. Let me explain some of these points. *I wanted to test my wiring to make sure it's correct by running the fan motor briefly before installing the blades and such. You can't do this unless you first install the cap at the very bottom of the fan (where the lighting kit fits). This was explained in the installation guide that I ended up downloading from the internet. **You cannot use the included switch AND the wireless remote control for the same installation. It's either one or the other. It wasn't even included in the instructions I downloaded. This fan does not have a chain hanging from the fan speed adjuster like other fans. That's what the 4-step switch is for. This is a much cleaner setup and was one of the reasons I bought this unit. With that said, you must choose. If you only want to control the fan, please use the included wall switch. If you want to use the wireless remote to control the fan instead, you can't use the included wall switch. It took a good hour to understand. With the remote control you can also control the light, which is not possible with the supplied switch. Pros: - Fan looks great - One person installs. You don't have to assemble the entire fan as a unit and then mount it to the ceiling, which can be cumbersome. Quiet, even at top speed. Well balanced right out of the box. It is not necessary to balance the blades, although a balancing kit is included. Accessories like a wireless remote control and lighting kits are available for a fee. One side was not light in color. Ours were dark brown and dark brown, almost black. The included 4-way wall switch feels cheap. The color of the switch is also not perfectly white so it may not match the rest of your switches/sockets. I ended up not using the switch and opted for the wireless remote, which is sold separately. Overall I think this is a big fan. I would buy it again. I just wish there was a better guide along the way. If you hire someone to install this for you, do so. If you do this work yourself and have a little skill, be patient after you figure it out everything will look great. Hope that helps.
