The 8L IS lens and image quality flaws make it look like a basic 70-300mm telephoto lens in most cases.
Also, the AF speed slowdown is a big disadvantage. I'll keep it, but the scenarios where I really want to use it will be rare. I am using it on a Canon 70-200mm f/2.8L IS lens and due to image quality issues it looks like a basic 70-300mm telephoto lens.
