My rig is an Nvidia Shield (2017 release) powering a 4K OLED TV from LG (CX series, 2020 release). My receiver is old and doesn't support 4K, so I can't feed HDMI directly through the receiver. I need to feed it into the TV and then send the audio back from the TV to my receiver via optical or HDMI-ARC. HOWEVER, LG no longer offers DTS support on their TVs, so all my DTS content doesn't play audio. I placed this device between my Shield and my LG TV by connecting an optical cable from this device to my receiver. Set the device to 5.1 (with the small 3-position switch on it). And it works! I can easily get DTS, DD, AC3, etc. on my receiver while streaming 4K@60 videos (with HDR) on my LG TV. So far all the video file formats I've sent through this setup work fine. . The video is 4K@60 and runs through HDR and Dolby Vision. Optical audio isn't supported for DTS-HD processing, so I changed the settings in KODI to say my receiver doesn't support DTS-HD and seems to be converting it to regular DTS since files with DTS-HD audio also just play well. I'll let you know if there are any file formats this doesn't work with, but so far so good!
