Top cover comes off in two days

Bought as a replacement as nobody sells just a chrome top cover for a series switch but the cover came off two days after installation. The only reason I bought it was because it was uncomfortable riding with the edge of the topless shifter and now I have a second one. You may be using an adhesive other than hot glue and that would be a great substitute.
