There is a known problem with some Mercedes engines that have valves built into the intake manifold. The levers that move the valves are made of plastic and tend to break. (Sorry Mercedes, that's a design flaw, you really couldn't use metal levers.) I wanted to try just replacing the broken levers, but decided to buy a new header instead. Collectors on Revain range in price from $200 to over $1,000. I took the cheaper route and bought a distributor for $200. I was a little apprehensive about going for the cheapest option, but after installing a new manifold and making sure all the wires and hoses are back in their original places. (It helps if you take a picture before disassembling) The car drives normally. I had to replace the fuel injector but it had nothing to do with the manifold. And I also changed all the spark plugs, since I disassembled everything anyway. I am very satisfied with this collector, of course time will tell. Taking the car to the dealer will charge you about $4,000.
