This turned out to be my 10 year old daughter's favorite Christmas present. It's well made and easy to use. It doesn't do much at once - enough for two decent helpings, one for her and one for her brother or boyfriend. It comes with two bowls so you can make two batches in a row for a slightly larger group (or for a special "pig" occasion. :-) ). With this and similar ice machines it is very important that the trays are very cold before use. We have a large freestanding freezer in the basement and we just store the shells there so they're ready when we need them. If you are short on freezer space, remember that for best results they should be stored in the freezer for at least 24 hours before use. Note: I haven't tried this particular ice cream maker, but another similar model works great for making 'slush' in addition to ice cream. Just use soda or juice with lots of sugar (does NOT work with diet drinks). Orange lemonades are very popular with our children.
