Review on Braun HM5100WH MultiMix Mixer White by Julie Blanford

This hand mixer is advertised as having 50% more power and half the effort. I beg to differ. I ordered this to replace my old 5 speed KitchenAid which I found was slow even at top speed. Turns out, Braun's hand mixer isn't really that much faster or more powerful, and the blending results between the two are almost imperceptible. I think with nine gears and turbocharging I expected more power than I actually see. When it comes to operation, my old KitchenAid wins - it's much easier to flick the thumb button on the handle to change the speed than it is to reach for the dial on the top of the unit. I appreciate the lowest speed which is actually slower than KitchenAid and very handy for many recipes. However, this is not the strong horse I thought it would be. Although the box says the blender was made in Germany, on the side of the box it says (in lower case) that it was made in Romania.
