Review on 📶 TP Link EAP225 DAccès 1350Mbps Gigabit: High-Speed and Reliable Wireless Connectivity by Christopher Wiggins

Revainrating 5 out of 5

A very impressive, feature-rich, multi-band access point.

This access point has about 90-95% of the features that much more expensive devices have. I've worked with many high-end access points (I used to be a wireless engineer and an RF designer) and this device has impressed me with its performance, features, and cost. (One note: if you are using this with a VPN you may need to reduce the frame size on your router. If your VPN goes down on your DSL you will need to take care of that. I had this problem, I reduced the frame size on the Router and fixed.) This device does everything from SNMP, VLAN, fencing (guest networks), multi-band (I use both and they work great), full MAC and ACL filtering, and it even has management software! It can use variable channel width, auto channel, adjustable transmit power, and load balance with other TP-Link APs to ensure 1 AP does not have too many clients. It can also perform QoS traffic prioritization and rogue AP detection. The only downside is that the ports are on the outside of the device, so you might not need to have it where someone can play around with it (like kids in schools etc.). It even has a ceiling grill, so I wouldn't hesitate to use it in a small office. The performance was very good and it works and works. You never have to restart it or anything. Get a PoE injector to install anywhere. In my opinion, this device is really close to being able to compete with devices that cost many times more.

Pros
  • Good stuff
Cons
  • Big and chunky
