Review on Lominie F20 18W LED Aquarium Light: Adjustable 6500K Planted Tank Light with Remote Controller for Freshwater Fish Tank Refugium - Gooseneck Design by Lisa Ramirez

I converted my 8 gram cube tank from a high tech plant tank to a low tech black water tank. I needed a light to replace my dimmable ADA Aquasky and was considering getting a Kessil A80. The opportunity presented itself, so I decided to try it first. I'm so happy with the Asta 20 that I don't need to upgrade to Kessil! The light, gooseneck and strut itself are all metal and appear to be very well made. It comes with a 180-inch lens and optionally includes another narrower lens. The lenses are made of clear plastic, the 180 degree beam is a flat disk while the narrower 60 degree lens is more like a bubble. Time will tell if these lenses remain clear from the heat or discolor. The lenses are easy to install by simply unscrewing the silver part of the flashlight's metal body. I chose a 180 degree lens as the narrow lens was too narrow for my tank. The gooseneck feels solid and stays where you set it. One downside I've found is that the gooseneck isn't centered on the metal body of the flashlight, but attaches slightly to one side. This makes the light a bit unbalanced, but the gooseneck is strong enough to hold it in whatever position you set it in. The gooseneck is attached to a metal bracket with a slot for the power cord and a nylon screw for attachment to the aquarium. You can see from the photos that the bracket is quite wide and will fit almost any shelf or aquarium. I found that the glass in my small tank was too thin for a nylon screw to hang from. I had to use a spacer to get a secure fit. There is a dimmer switch on the power cord that allows you to dim the light or turn it off completely. There's a slight lag when turning the dial and dimming the lights. Gives good range. With any point light source there is a nice shimmer when you have surface water movement. Small things aside, I think this is a great alternative to the Kessil A80 and I am very happy with my purchase. I will buy again at full price!
