This item claims to already be formatted for Mac, but it isn't. I had read only permissions so I reformatted mine following the instructions below. Start Disk Utility from /Applications/Utilities/. Connect the drive you want to format for dual compatibility to your Mac. In Disk Utility, click the drive name in the list on the left. , and then click the Erase tab, click the drop-down menu next to Format and select MS-DOS (FAT). If required, provide a drive name. Click the "Erase" button to format the drive for Mac and Windows PC compatibility.
