Well it's a good size and works well but for us to use it the laptop has to be on a flat surface and even the slightest movement will do cause shutdown which is quite awkward because it was bought for a 13 year old girl to play the sims because her laptop ran out of memory. So it's a good product, but for some reason it doesn't stay connected.

Not a bad deal. The device only needs a USB port if the port is 2.0 or higher. The hard drive is Toshiba 320Gig so I expect a long lifespan for this device.

It worked for a few weeks and then I saved two days in my backpack and stopped working. Now the computer says to format the drive so it's formatted to be saved and then formatted.

This item claims to already be formatted for Mac, but it isn't. I had read only permissions so I reformatted mine following the instructions below. Start Disk Utility from /Applications/Utilities/. Connect the drive you want to format for dual compatibility to your Mac.
