Don't worry about other brand substitutes
I tried a regular brush head which was much cheaper and was advertised for use with Sonic-Fusion. Yes, no dice. Expensive, but of course appropriate. The manufacturer recommends changing them every three months, so expect to pay $50 a year. I don't think it's that bad.
