5.5 lbs DSLR + lens does not get the support it needs

When I decided to use the video capability of my DSLR, the first step was to take a look at the gimbals on the camera. This one was super affordable (on sale) so why not. I definitely paid attention to the specified maximum load and unfortunately my D800E with battery pack and Tamron G2 24-70 lens was too heavy (5.5 lbs). Even with all the weights added to the stabilizer and fully extended, I couldn't balance it (at all). I've had success after removing the grip and switching to ultra light plastic lenses (28-80mmG and 50mm 1.8D) and balancing is much more achievable (was surprised - and the reason I still have 3 get stars). But I bought because I knew my rig wasn't up to the advertised weight limit. So if you have a 5-6 pound camera rig this might not work for you. For the price paid I can still use it for a future mirrorless setup. I don't give up easily so maybe it's all user error. I will keep trying and update my review if my experience changes.

Fantastic entry/budget steadicam rig - Received with flaw, but easily fixed
